If you really want to understand me you need to know that I saw this movie when I was about 7–8, have had a kind of nostalgia for it all my life, briefly owned a DVD of it that had to be ordered from overseas, and searched for years for a good download till I finally found one this year

Watched Charlie’s Country. Nobody does it like Rolf de Heer. I don’t suppose there’s another white man anywhere making such quietly sensitive films about indigenous people (this one co-written with David Gulpilil)

Everyone freaks out over Australia’s obvious snake hazards, but I think most people are psychologically even less equipped to handle the land leeches.
