I wrote a piece for @jodemocracy.bsky.social on a little-noticed court decision last week to effectively permanently outlaw Jordan’s teacher’s union

In doing so, I argue for a reconceptualisation of how Palestinian youth understand and enact resistance, one that foregrounds the local contingencies shaping individual actors.

Focusing on Palestinian rap music, I analyse how two key masculine identities, the Dod (a transgressive counter-cultural figure) and the Gada' (a brave man), have fostered new forms of political belonging among disaffected Palestinian youth between 2018-2021.
