Veterans from Louisiana remind service members to not follow unlawful orders.

Thank you all for your service, for placing your love of country over your own welfare, and for helping others uphold their oaths to the U.S. Constitution.

I think the contractors who worked on the demolition should be sued. There could not have been proper permits, and the enablers need to be worried about working on these destructive boondoggles.

If you’re looking for something to do, start working on overturning citizens united in your state. States control the power corporations have. Take their political power away with a ballot initiative. Here’s how: open.substack.com/pub/robertre...
How to Get Rid of "Citizens United"
We can do away with it without a new Supreme Court. Nor do we need a constitutional amendment. There’s a far simpler way.

Jack Smith should have a press conference on the steps of the Capitol and reveal the truth.

Be as brave as the Epstein survivors!
Why are Republicans afraid to let Jack Smith testify in public?

Any one of us could be in the next apartment building that ICE raids in the middle of the night.

Any one of us could be on the next boat that Trump bombs on a whim.

Any one of us could be detained for hours despite being a U.S. citizen.

Authoritarianism hurts all of us.

What Pam Bondi and Lindsey Halligan did was not incompetence. It was intentional misconduct. They both must be disbarred.

Arrests have begun in North Carolina based on profiling.

ICE needs to show clear ID before stepping onto private property and asking for proof of citizenship.

So Stephen Colbert's show *does* get cancelled because he didn't flatter Trump.

And Megyn R. Kelly's show *doesn't* get cancelled because she tried to dismiss & normalize pedophilia.

That's the morally topsy-turvy country we are currently living in.

For years they droned on about “the Deep State” - a powerful cabal that controlled everything.

Then they set their sights on “the Epstein list” - a powerful cabal that preyed on children.

(Spoiler: it’s the same cabal)

Now they’re in power, guess who is protecting this cabal?

They are.

Odd.

Nine months ago I put most of my hope in major institutions continuing to hold fascism in check, but had little expectation that regular people with little to no power would step up and put themselves at risk.

I had it exactly backward.
signs like these are up all over Chicago cafes and storefronts (here, cafes in Brighton Park and Back of the Yards) warning ICE not to enter without a judicial warrant

When the president is destroying national landmarks, murdering fishermen, raising prices because he's angry over a Reagan video, and kidnapping parents in front of their crying children is probably not an ideal time to have a lazy, completely incompetent legislative branch perpetually on vacation.

Trump faces legal action over the demolition of the White House East Wing, part of his plan to build a new ballroom on the grounds.
A lawsuit, now that it's too late to stop the destruction of our historic treasure. But at least maybe they will halt the vulgar ballroom.

Donald Trump sued over east wing demolition
A Virginia couple is suing to stop Trump’s $300 million White House ballroom, calling it unlawful and historically reckless.

It’s still hard to grasp that there aren’t 4 GOP Reps (who will otherwise be forgotten forever after retiring & likely defeated next year anyway) aren’t interested in going down in history as all-time 🇺🇸 heroes by caucusing with the Dems & giving them the majority to impeach Trump & save the Republic
Democrats should hold a press conference and announce that if Mike Johnson has no interest in running the House they'd be happy to do it for him
Mike Johnson has dissolved Congress. Why?

Shapiro: I filed that amicus brief last night to make it very clear that the Pennsylvania National Guard is under my command.

The way the President has chosen to deploy the Guard in other states—and, in at least one case, deploy the Guard from one state into another—is extremely dangerous.

It is pretty galling that the Supreme Court spent four years telling Biden "you can't do that without Congress" then allowed Trump to seize a once-unthinkable amount of power from Congress within nine months and concentrate law-making authority almost entirely in the executive branch.

The President gets no special new powers during a shutdown. He can't eliminate agencies. He can't use federal funds to punish his political opponents.

As Trump's illegality grows during the shutdown, Democrats' spines should stiffen to oppose his corruption.
