🔒 Mail-in voting is safe and tested🔒

Mail-in voting isn’t a threat to our election security, but mis- and dis-information—like the rumors that mail in voting isn’t safe or that noncitizens are voting—ARE a threat. Keep WA elections accessible. Decline to Sign I-126. Learn more ➡️ lwvwa.org/IL26-126

Why does US democracy separate powers?

1️⃣ We need stability in our government.
2️⃣ By balancing power between 3 branches, we assure that power is shared. And no one person or branch has absolute authority.

What is advocacy in the League? 🤔

It's grassroots and nonpartisan. We study all viewpoints and reach consensus before we take action. The LWV never supports nor opposes candidates/political parties, but always works on vital issues.

Why was my ballot challenged? 🤔

Most often, ballots are challenged for signature problems. Bottom line: If your ballot was challenged, it can be fixed and WILL still be counted if 'cured' in time.

In 1909, Dr. Cora Smith Eaton climbed Mt. Rainier with a “Votes for Women” banner.

A year later, on November 8th, women in Washington state won the right to vote – the 5th state to do so, and 10 years before the 19th amendment.

It’s not too late to vote! We recommend using a ballot dropbox on Election Day to be sure your vote is counted.
