If there’s one skill I gained from growing up in my family, and I’m so glad I’ve been able to maintain it, it’s knowing that I’m not wrong just because I’m being mocked. People will call you dumb, not because you’re incorrect, but because THEY haven’t accepted new information since they were 22.

Younger people will be shocked to hear this, but way back when I grew up, anytime you saw a movie where some government official stopped someone on the street and demanded to see their identification papers, that was supposed to let you know they were the *bad* guys.
