Gonna be that person who re-ups their own prescient post.
tfw you’re watching Frost / Nixon again and wishing the next 4 years of depravity were only Watergate bad.

Half of my feed is about the imminent destruction of our constitutional republic, the other is unabashed glee over social media bookmarks. Strange time to be alive.

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

Bill Maher really just argued men aren’t so bad by citing examples of fighting wars against slavery, communism and fascism. lol - cuz women started those…?

Two takeaways from Drag Race All Stars tonight: - it’s nice to see more of Acid’s genuinely sweet side. I always thought her season’s edit was sketch. She’s also so well-rounded and never really gets her due.

And Denali’s legs are a work of art.

Solid “reporting” here, ABC 🙄

“…Newsom said in his eight-minute highly produced remarks, flanked by the California and U.S. flags.”

“His rhetoric directly calling out Trump…”

Newsom speech taking on Trump encourages Democrats looking for a leader
Many saw it as a sign the California governor might run for the White House.

To be in public office right now is to constantly ask yourself: How do I make sure I'm standing on the right side of history?

There's a simple answer.

The wrong side of history will always tell you to be afraid - the right side of history will always expect you to be brave.

What the fuck are we doing here?

Oh dear you’re going to want to read this. Looks like DOGErs were caught exfiltrating NLRB data, likely on unions, for private (seemingly Elony) use. This is must read. What we’ve all suspected. But now details. www.npr.org/2025/04/15/n...
A whistleblower's disclosure details how DOGE may have taken sensitive labor data
A whistleblower tells Congress and NPR that DOGE may have taken sensitive labor data and hid its tracks. "None of that ... information should ever leave the agency," said a former NLRB official.

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

"So Trump will impose these tariffs and sit back and wait for other world leaders to petition the king with their offerings that will ultimately expand his own power, all the while we are the collateral damage. We all get thrown under the bus; 350 million people suffer so that one man can benefit."

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.

No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

He’s crashing the economy, disappearing people, putting 330M people in absolute turmoil & ruining lives, taking us from stable to a fucking Great Depression. And they’re just LETTING him. Congress knows what he’s doing is catastrophic and could stop this, but they won’t. It’s absolute insanity.
