Alright I'm callin this one done! A painting of Lycaenops, 15x30in, acrylic on canvas. I more or less wanted a big gorgon painting in my house and decided it was time to do it after visiting the @burkemuseum.bsky.social last! More info in alt text. #paleoart #traditionalart
A trio of Lycaenops bristle at some threat unseen. The scheme is very red, yellow and blue, though modulations in color may be seen throughout. The creatures are a blend of mammalian and reptilian traits. I gave them a mixture of scales and fur and quills, mostly looking at monotremes at first. I included some whiskers in there too ;) This was a CMYK experiment for me and the red definitely pushed farther than I had initially intended but as the intended audience is me and I like it well..I declined to fix it ;)

A group of salmon eggs, fry, adult, and one skeleton sculpted out of colored clay. They are arranged in a crescent with eggs at the top and skeleton at the bottom An assembled necklace of the lifecycle of salmon in the Pacific Northwest. They begin as eggs on a gravely substrate, and then hatchlings, all the way to adults in breeding colors and their demise.

An animal with a stupendous jaw stretches and yawns in the sun. It has a scaled snoot with enormous saber fangs, and patches of little teeth way up in the roof of its mouth. Along its spine and cheeks grow a short coat of mostly black and grey fur with a brown and white badgery streak.
