Increasing punishment doesn't decrease crime. What it does do is show inconsistency when we oppose Conservative calls for mandatory minimums on bail and sentencing.

Maybe if we're going to accept that an outright opposition to military spending is unrealistic, we can AT LEAST agree that it should not be a for-profit venture?
As Canada builds an innovation economy around “defence” (to the aspirational tune of 5% of GDP) we’re going to be confronted with a lot of these awful transactions.

Revisiting a framework for assessing the social, political and ethical dimensions of defence spending and trade might be in order.
