It’s always great to have some stats to back up what you already feel.

FREE author events at Holborn Library in London. Sat 18th October for the Bloomsbury Festival. There isn't a bookshop on site but I will happily sign any editions of my books if you bring them along! There are lots of events happening!

Storm Amy…take care peeps! I’m gonna go get some food in and then will hunker down! Waterproof trousers are on!

Oh I’ve manifested some weird stuff like a free sofa (when I needed one) and one day I was like ‘I wish someone would approach me about making my novel into a screen project’ and that day I had an email about that very thing (it didn’t go anywhere)!

Not sure I’m very good at manifesting book projects atm! Nothing is working!

We all want to write for them! I’ve pitched a few things but no bites yet!

I wrote an article for work about reading with dyslexia. This includes a list of kids books of various formats that I’ve personally found super-readable for different reasons.

It’s #DyslexiaAwarenessWeek in Scotland this week and in the rest of the UK next week. As a dyslexic reader myself I wanted to use #KidsBooksFriday this week to celebrate brilliant, accessible and super-readable texts of all kinds.

I hate unboxing videos. HOWEVER, I am a CARTOONIST. So.
A cartoon of myself against a photographed background. I’m approaching a big box from Penguin Random House placed on my dining room table. I’m now kneeling over the box on the floor on top of a rug in front of my couch, preparing to open the box I’m now jubilantly hopping around with a copy of my book in my hand, a slightly crazed look on my face. My cartoon hand holds a copy of Angelica and the Bear Prince, cartoon stars and sparkles around it

It’s people from all over getting them. I was surprised to find one in my uni email inbox though and also they’re emailing my publishers and agent too. Which is also weird!

Ooh, it's been a while, but we've got a scammer trying to fiddle people's credit cards again.

They keep trying to buy Mr Bump over and over again with made up names and addresses. Poor Mr Bump.

Each one has a women’s email address - usually a gmail and it’s annoying me. It all looks AI generated to me. Things feel weird lately with getting wrongly billed or getting receipts for things I didn’t buy.

Nearly every day this week I’ve had an email via my contact form, sent to my agency or my uni email telling me how wonderful my books are and it goes on for paragraphs. My head swells with the praise and then there is a line at the end asking me to contact them to see the ways they can help promote

Whatever you do, please don’t stop reading.

Read for joy. Read for education. Read for resistance. Read banned books. Read books by marginalized authors. Read about experiences that differ from your own.

Just. Keep. Reading.
