Found Apes Hall, Littleport, #Cambridgeshire

Stamp refers to Mammius of Lezoux, c.155-185 CE

Other examples of this maker's mark have been found in Norfolk and York.

Now in Ely Museum.

A 13th Century tower. Modified in the 15th Century, with Y-tracery & a panelled parapet.

However, concerns about possible collapse led to the overbearing brick buttresses of 1740 & 1876.

“Sedgeford Torc”, #Norfolk

Two different “finds”, but maybe parts of the same artefact -

1965. Neck ring & terminal, reputedly seen hanging from a harrow towed by a tractor.

2004. Terminal discovered by metal detectorist as part of local history project.

Now #BritishMuseum

The central doorway has an architrave of 1167 with the “Redeemer & Apostles” and showing the incredulity of Thomas.

Well, talk about serendipity.🤔

New Year’s resolution is to read “The Snettisham Hoards”.

Fascinating, particularly parts where long held views are challenged.

Today, once again, I read about alternative views of Machling & Williamson.

I started to see who they were. I now have a partial answer.😉
