I opted to just begin at mastodon.social and start trying to find people, since migration is a thing that I can one day do (hopefully)

Does anyone have a wandering.shop invite they would be willing to extend to me? I am not on Mastodon, and I am looking to diversify my social media platforms, so to speak. I am not very interested in the larger general servers, and I feel not a good fit for many of the more niche servers. 😅

I am glad they returned! I have a red tailed hawk friend that I see or hear on my daily walk. She's a tough old broad for sure. I hope your little family of birds thrives post construction project.

I have never been a Taylor Swift fan (though some people have given me an appreciation for her prowess), but as a deep cuts Grimes girlie who watched Claire go down the Elon Musk/conservative koolaid path, I must say that I feel for all of the fans who are getting vocally uncomfortable rn.

Henry's writing about about institutional actors more than the mass public, but the basic collective-action point relates to mass protests as well--a means of signaling the scope of opposition, unafraid and peaceful. Put me in mind of the No Kings day planned for 10/18, which can't come soon enough.

Like, I enjoy hobbyist coding/hardware projects, so I don't really think I "qualify" for hachyderm.io lol

Added to the list of weirdly difficult and time-consuming tasks: selecting a free Thriftbooks rewards book (valued $6 or less).

My offer still stands to my community here: buy Riley's books and I will buddy read them with you. I will do it as many times as you want! I don't know if that is added incentive for you. But in case it is the opposite, you can also buy them and keep it a secret from me entirely. 😌

I live by my writing. Pick up When the Earth Was Green for yourself or someone you know who could use a prehistoric nature walk. It helps me, helps indies, and today you can still get free shipping. 🌱

What is this? Professionalism for 18th century aristocracy? 👀

I cannot stress this enough: my life would be dramatically different without social media. Though I can be curmudgeonly, I am so deeply grateful for the connections I've made.

Amy here has helped me specifically! But so many people have, really. It is quite hopeful, when I pause to think about it.

Has anything great happened in your life because of social media?

What a delightful story this was!

Back during a summer break in high school, I tried to do this, which ended with me walking down the main street of Emory's camous with an absolutely furious canada goose wrapped my now goose-befouled shirt
paperalphabet.bsky.social
noticed a goose with a broken or damaged wing on my walk & called three different orgs about it. one of them was like, can you get it and bring it in?
malorienilson.com
Mostly, my mom would have just been so relieved and proud of me for leaving the goose-befouled shirt outside. I feel like this must be a uniting factor for all mothers of children with animal-helping-and-catching proclivities. (Also, this thread was a delight to read)

Am I using this as fuel to collect more weird MMP editions of things? PROBABLY.

Yet again, I am sad about the loss of mass market paperbacks. Your paper smelled and felt very weird, but I loved you anyway.

Thought that might help to give you an idea if I am worth listening to or not based on your own preferences. XD

My ranked order: Bayonetta 2, Bayonetta, Cereza, Bayonetta 3. I think 2 struck a great balance with improving upon the gameplay, staying true to Bayonetta as a character, and giving a good (albeit silly, because duh) story. Though, sidetone, the OG character design is still my fav!
malorienilson.com
I think it is the weakest in the series, and I am including Cereza and the Lost Demon (even though it is a much different vibe haha). The story is the weakest element, which was the most disappointing part for me as an avid Bayonetta fan. I was a bit bummed by the end.

Revisiting Ill Feelings by Alice Hattrick, and aside from my appreciation for her deeply personal and insightful look at chronic illness and the politicized ill body, it gives me some hope that I can keep plugging away at my work and eventually I will see it to fruition.

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

Have to be up at 6:30 AM to get to an appointment at 7:30, so of course, I cannot catch the sleepies atall 😒

If my cortisol test is high, I am blaming the concept of appointments and extra blood tests and saying so.
