Gov. Spencer Cox: "Is this the end of a dark chapter in our history, or the beginning of a darker chapter in our history?...Social media is a cancer on our society right now, and I would encourage people to log off, turn off, touch grass, hug a family member, go out and do good in your community."

This @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social video is absolutely INCREDIBLE. The numbers he cites, the strategy and results they produced — it’s the future. When have you heard *any* campaign talk about this, ever? (Video split in 2 to fit in Bluesky’s limits)

Hey @governorwalz.mn.gov @governor.ca.gov, or @govpritzker.illinois.gov how about a truth in fees law that requires products sold in your state to disclose what entities the taxes are being paid to? Kind of like my airline breaks out various fees. Just spitballin’ here.
Now we have the answer. The original story was legit then Bezos backed down.

This is your regular reminder that executive orders are not royal decrees. Because America has no king.

I unpack the eternal tension between Jefferson and Hamilton—and why my dog is better at catching his own tail than DOGE is.
(Though to be fair, DOGE’s bite is much worse.)

The point of Senator Booker's filibuster is to be INSPIRED by this man to go find YOUR ROLE, not to wait for them to go save us now.

That is not this assignment.

Thread of places to go to get started. More coming out of LiST this Thursday.

When truth becomes “political” and right and wrong are just opinions, justice dies quietly—and power walks away laughing.

If you wanted to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you would empower the inspectors general.

If you wanted more waste, fraud, and abuse, you would fire them.

10,000 times yes!
I keep saying Dems need to do a daily briefing on Capitol Hill and fill the void, fact check the WH. Hire Pete Buttigeig and give him a staff to do this.

The Trump Administration is breaking the law. Period.

Never stop showing this. They are not “implementing unpopular policies” or “auditing the government.”

They are breaking the law and ignoring the courts.

No words on how horribly awful the timing of this loss is. For years, his was the voice of Figure Skating for me. Such a heartbreaking day.

Thinking now is a good time to add Emerson and Thoreau to my re-reading list. Also, Gandhi and King are always good choices.

Probably the same time they decided to invent Covid and rig the election. Critical thinking is rarely a part of dumba$$ conspiracy theories.
It’s so wild that 7 years ago the NFL owners of all the big market teams got together and decided it would be in everyone‘a best interest to begin rigging games to benefit a small market city and their rookie quarterback from well known superstar pipeline school Texas Tech!

Oh yes, now I remember, the Friday night f@(kery. Most Fridays he would do a bunch of horrible things to avoid the news cycle. Here we go again.
1. BREAKING

The White House late Friday fired the independent inspectors general of at least 12 major federal agencies in a purge that could clear the way for President Trump to install loyalists in the crucial role of identifying fraud, waste and abuse in the government.

If the Gulf of Mexico no longer exists in terms of US references, do previous policies (for example protecting endangered species or regulating offshore drilling) still apply? I have read the EO, it is vague to me but I'm not a legal scholar. Other than flooding the zone is there another angle?

Trump knows he will bungle emergency management responses. Marginalizing crisis agencies like FEMA and CDC frees him to wash his hands of responsibility when natural disasters and pandemics hit. Congrats, evangelicals. You just landed yourself the globe's biggest social Darwinist.

Using those working definitions, not only opens the door for the Project 2025 stated goal of implementing a federal abortion ban but also it also makes it easier to limit birth control. Personhood at conception jeopardizes IUDs and other contraceptives that limit implantation.
🚨

Yes, he's making us look ridiculous. Need to look at this deeper. He's setting up to ban abortion nationwide.

My degree is in economics, but I graduated in an era when we still believed the fairy tale of supply-side economics, before NAFTA and pre WTO. A lot of changes have occurred. Two concepts that we should remember are Hegemonic Stability Theory and Collateral Damages. Spoiler alert: they aren’t good.
