I also think because I’m adopted and have never been anything but a guest in any of my family lineages, my hair makes me feel like I am somehow close to the ancestors. If I find beauty in myself, I remember that thousands of people loved my features before me so I could enjoy them too one day.

I’d like to think this was based on my IT story, but my favorite was actually Thinner.

My mom tried to make sure I didn’t read stuff that was too scary. Mr. Bill, one of the librarians when I was a kid, helped me sneak out “It” when I was in third grade. I didn’t sleep for a week, and I will be thankful to him my whole life. Librarians rock!
Did your parents control what you read as a child/teen? Mine did not, and my life was not ruined. I grew up to be an academic librarian.

2)what actually motivates people for retention? The literature says culture, but every single nurse I work with says they don’t want a backpack, food, swag, whatever…they want a bonus/raise.
