We’re becoming immune to it, but it’s worth emphasizing:

In a country generally known for its good governance and good sense, *more than a third* of all seats in parliament are set to be won by the anti-immigrant populist far right

(PVV+BBB+JA21+FvD = 52 seats, out of 150)

Latest Dutch ‘poll of polls’, 20 days before election:

- Wilders still comfortably first
- centre right (CDA) and left (GLPvdA) strong second
- VVD’s pandering to the far right still woefully unpopular
- lunatic-adjacent JA21 doing v well

And only 11% of PVV voters say stable govt is important!

Been working in Belfast recently and it’s good to see Grand Central complete and Weaver’s Cross development underway (though taxi drivers seem to be losing it over the closure of a road). Can still see the old Victoria st. Station and Europa bus station… for now.
A night time photo of the new Belfast Grand Central station with construction work on the public realm going on in the foreground. The station is illuminated in white light and has a series of angled roof sections with glass roof lights and a glass curtain wall adjacent to the bus stands. There is a white tower block to one end. “Peace prizes are earned through sustained commitment, not through social media tantrums & not from intimidation…one late contribution does not erase years of enabling violence and division.”

Bad news, Trump. The world knows who you are.

And if he attacks Norway, an EU member & NATO ally over it…
Norway braces for Trump’s reaction if he does not win Nobel peace prize
US president may impose tariffs, demand higher Nato contributions or even declare Norway an enemy, analyst says

Why is more research needed??? We can plainly see the impact. What’s more - motor vehicles simply do not belong on footways or cycleways. People get killed because of mistakes made by drivers where they shouldn’t be.

Is this new? More can kicking? Why haven’t they published the consultation report yet?!!!
DfT: "That's why we have commissioned new research to better understand the impact of pavement parking and ensure the solutions we take forward work in practice."

Was so much misinformation allowed to run riot about the CAZ. Also this idea they should never have another shot at a congestion charge in GM… i was against it originally, but my views and knowledge changed since - are they saying that cannot be? People made a once in a lifetime choice?

A study in the Lancet estimated that U.S. foreign aid cuts could cause 14 million additional deaths by 2030, including over 4.5 million children under five.

4.5 million. Children under five.

And the people doing this say they’re “pro-life”.

“I just don’t know how you go around, asking everyone first. I just don’t see how that would work,”
For a tech industry leader he doesn’t have much vision of how tech can help with processing large amounts of data in this scenario… only seems to think it will work when it’s taking data from others.

Trump’s illegal tariff war (intended to fund tax breaks for the rich) is devastating US farmers, destroying long-term trade relationships between US farmers & buyers.

Now Trump is talking about a “bail out” for farmers (socialism), but is emphasizing agricultural corporations (corporate welfare).

These new figures prove that when people are put at the heart of Oxford Street, the area thrives and businesses benefit.

That’s why I am moving forward with the next stage of my proposals to pedestrianise Oxford Street and revitalise the area as quickly as I can. www.cityam.com/oxford-stree...
Oxford Street pedestrianisation boosts sales, survey finds
Oxford Street was closed to traffic for eight hours on Sunday 21st September in a pilot test to fully pedestrianise the high street.

Seems sensible, but this case seems to have been won by the residents. So a small parish council will now be sentenced and have to come up with, and find funding for an alternative plan. In the meantime the kids suffer. I hope they still play in that area and kick balls against the resident’s fences
