This is the 2.1 mounted. I didn’t measure the actual width mounted and this is a photo from the other year. I just used the Winter on the back last year because i couldn’t be bothered fighting with the belt drive and cables when the deeper snow came! Especially as in the UK snow doesn’t last long.

Love that. I nearly picked a copy up in a 3 for £1 at our local canal group’s charity book shop. It’s an amazing place in an old canal-rail transfer warehouse. Even once saw an otter in there. Not for sale. Anyway - cheers!

Been working in Belfast recently and it’s good to see Grand Central complete and Weaver’s Cross development underway (though taxi drivers seem to be losing it over the closure of a road). Can still see the old Victoria st. Station and Europa bus station… for now.

Could Rule 153 be utilised? It's more a general rule about not overtaking ANY moving traffic in a traffic calmed area, and it's rarely observed. But if the road is traffic calmed, could they then add advisory signage referencing rule 153 but emphasising cyclists?

Oh yes. All the way up the road. Including a BMW slowly being reclaimed by nature. I’ve checked and unfortunately it’s still taxed so the easy way of getting it moved by the council (abandoned vehicle) isn’t available.

But trailers are amazing if you get a good one. Our Burley Tailwagon performed brilliantly in the Netherlands since we couldn’t take the cargo bike. Really smooth and could hardly tell I was towing.

You definitely need an SUV pickup to transport a rattan facebook marketplace chair home. This cannot be done by bike.

I hear you. All the time. Before 🇳🇱 hols I bought an already refurbed 90s Sunn Cross. Almost every night leading up to the trip I found something I wasn’t happy with and that always escalated. Had to be done. Had to be right. Only thing i didn’t do was the BB. Guess what loosened on the trip…

I don’t think the intention is for that to be an overtaking lane. It’s for junction capacity and queuing. It’s got a merge straight after and it’s at a junction so nobody should be overtaking (HWC rule 167). They should just use it to merge in turn. Goes without saying tho: should be cycle infra!

@rantyhighwayman.bsky.social @bicycledutch.bsky.social can you tell me what the purpose of this road marking is? It’s too constrained to be used in the same way as a UK mini roundabout, but is it intended to simply indicate the priority of a roundabout applies?

After a hard day pedalling to the beach and supervising a young Wheaten Terrier in his first civil engineering job it’s nice to find a shaded, chilled cafe next to the cycle path for frikandel speciaal and a refreshing Texels. Proost!
