The murder of archbishop Engelbert of Cologne 1225 is the subject of the medieval panel at @historikertag.bsky.social feat. Claudia Garnier, @katha-m.bsky.social and Claudia Lauer. And what a fitting location it has.

IMC Leeds 2026 – Call for Papers:
Manuscripts and Narratives through Space and Time: New Perspectives on Matthew Paris

We invite proposals for a session at IMC 2026 under the special thematic strand Temporalities. This session aims to bring together new research on the works of the benedictine monk, scribe and artist Matthew Paris—not limited to the Chronica Majora, though certainly including it—to investigate how manuscripts and narratives travel across space and time and how temporal frameworks shape both content and interpretation.
Papers may address a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:
•	Manuscript circulation, mobility, and transmission across geographical and chronological boundaries
•	Temporal structures and narrative strategies employed by Matthew Paris
•	Spatial representations of time in maps, diagrams, and visual narratives
•	Use and perception of time in commentary, annotation, or compositional stages
•	Comparative approaches to temporal concepts across his works
•	Intersections of narrative, memory, and materiality across time in Matthew Paris’s oeuvre
Titles and abstracts (c. 150 words) for 20-minute papers should be sent to
Miriam Weiss (miriam.weiss@uni-saarland.de) and/or Manuel Kamenzin (manuel.kamenzin@rub.de)
Please include your name, academic status, institutional affiliation and a short curriculum. A selection of papers will be made on the basis of the abstracts submitted.

Deadline: 05 September 2025.
