The year is 2003. I’m 17 years old. I’m watching Democrats fail to appropriately oppose an illegal war for oil.

The vulture oral history of the making of this movie is worth a read. Great recollection from Patrick Warburton about meeting Eartha Kitt.

I have always said it, I will continue to say it, we are limiting the productive potential of millions of freaks by demanding they earn a wage to survive instead of enabling them to do whatever thing their brain is broken for

Yeah I was going to say ikea children’s dept usually has fun shapes of wall lamp. I have a couple that are bugs, but I think they often have clouds, moons, and pink flowers too

Made me think of this NPR article about toddlers’ natural instincts to be helpful that is generally quashed in American culture, which results in older kids who don’t know how to do anything around the house www.npr.org/sections/goa...

See: Larry Summers’s casual sexism could have been seen as an indicator of bigger underlying judgement problems, or mass shooters pretty much all have prior violence against women or queers. Woke is good actually

I have this thing called the kindness theory of politics that is basically that the kind solution is always the one that is also most efficient, effective, economical, etc. see basic income or housing the unhoused, and I think it also kind of applies to individuals’ politics.

But if you choose to *reason from* the fact of racial disparity, it would be easy to *reason to* racist conclusions.

with not only the obvious disparities of the world around me but also conflicting ideas I had also absorbed in culture, as a young adult, I *reasoned from* the premise of equality, and from that premise systemic racism provides answers to the dissonance.

First of all, I wasn't responding to you, I was responding to them. Second they said they like LOTR (not specifically its scale) but want "small and weird and has rough edges" fantasy, which is super different. Honestly I just thought grace of kings was a super bad rec for that. Sorry it stung.

Insane rec, the grace of kings might be from a different culture but it is still at the epic scale, dry, and follows largely male protagonists. Nothing like the vibes of hk snd ss. There is lots of weird fantasy out there but that’s not it
