It is not only a disgrace that @adelitaforcongress.bsky.social won the election two weeks ago and has yet to be sworn in by Squeaker Mike Johnson, but a crime against the oath he swore to when he was confirmed.

Why isn't he held in contempt and impeached?

Tomorrow the Epstein survivors will storm Capitol Hill to demand release of the files. I hope new Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva is sworn in at their press conference by another judge or official who is authorized to do so (doesn’t have to be the Speaker).

Today, Senator Kaine and I will force the Senate to vote on the administration’s decision to blow up ships in the Caribbean.

If a president can unilaterally put people or groups on a list and kill them, there is no meaningful limit to his use of force.

Government Shutdown:
@schumer.senate.gov on 🔥

Thank you, and PLEASE STAY THE COURSE.

Now Americans need strong opposition leaders more than ever.

🙏Share.

The government is shut down because Trump and the Republicans are hellbent on taking health care away from you.

And they won’t even come to the table to talk to us about it.

This is not about politics. It's about people.

Let’s break it down:

Someone who can't tell the difference between a constitutionally protected peaceful protest and an insurrection shouldn't be the president. Just to make things clear, THIS is what an insurrection looks like.

Trump kills them by taking away their insurance, RFK kills them by scaring them about vaccines. We won't have any farmers in a generation.

I'm glad this is something that has finally gained traction with the public. On the other hand, I'm sorry that we are saving Republicans from themselves.

Real double whammy for those farmers, many of whom probably rely on ACA and now also don’t have any income. It’s almost like we told them what would happen and they were too smug to listen.

Sad part is most of them are fed lies from their "news" and won't believe this. However, weirdly MTG is screaming it from the rafters so maybe it'll get out there.

In today’s writing club, we discussed writing dialogue. Some tips: dialogue occurs amid movement and action, in context that changes what the words themselves mean. The interactions among speakers, and among words and movements, and mannerisms, reveal characters—and lies.

The Brown Berets also had issues with sexism and “machismo.” Women in the movement were often left out of the decision-making process, and many left the East Los Angeles chapter due to the sexism they faced. This exodus significantly weakened the organization and contributed to its decline. /end

By 1969, the Brown Berets had numerous chapters nationwide, including in California, Colorado, Minnesota and Texas, but they were often stigmatized by the public. The organization disbanded in 1972 due to internal conflicts and ongoing pressure from law enforcement and other authorities. /5

The Brown Berets also engaged in direct action, such as student walkouts demanding better educational resources. In 1972, they occupied Santa Catalina Island to protest historical land injustices. Their mission was to empower the Chicano community by asserting their right to self-determination. /4

Like the Black Panthers, the Brown Berets were considered a militant organization but often engaged in nonviolent action. The group advocated for better education, jobs and housing, and provided community support through initiatives such as health services, tutoring and job-skill development. /3

The group adopted the brown beret as their symbol and used the motto “To Serve, Observe and Protect” to signify their role as community defenders. They focused on exposing police brutality, fighting racism, addressing housing inequality and educational neglect, and protesting the Vietnam War. /2
