I got the bow pulpit and the platform off today. I’ll get the sprit itself off tomorrow.
I think I have a good way to lower it solo easily.
If all that goes smoothly, I will try to get the caprails (where the hull to deck joint is) sanded and ready for fiberglass on Thursday.

Black walnut and ash cabin floor. This is raw unstained, wood sanded, but unfinished. Wiping with acetone shows how it may look finished.

Looks like I may be able to salvage the 50 year old teak caprail on my Westsail.

You can see it with a naked eye, but you’ll have to acclimate your eyes to the dark first.

A good phone camera will capture this picture right now. #ESVA

Photo taken this evening looking West from the ESVA. Is there anyone here who knows cloud formations who can tell me a bit about these? #weather #meteorology

Yesterday it we pruned and watered our grapes and got a start on pressure washing the house. It was a sunny and humid 90°f and seemed like a good day for that.

In the evening I enjoyed a nice sail. The next three days should be great for that.

We had over 4.5” of rain in under two hours today, and the result was a whole lot of flooding.

I removed two aquatic(!) turtles from the road on my way home from work.

I’m going to guess that the heavily industrialized nature of the economy here - agriculture & poultry - leaves teens & twenty something’s feeling they have few options to support a family. I’m guessing most leave. The population demographics trend older here & labor is imported from Mexico & Haiti.

This Diamondback Terrapin was hunkered down in the road. So I set roadside in a Spartina Patens field.

Day trip to Cambridge and Hoopers Island, MD.
Cambridge is, IMO, hands down the prettiest town on the Eastern Shore. Very historic. Very pleasant. Didn’t take photos in town while driving so you’ll just have to take my word for it.

While waiting for supplies to re-rig the Lugger, I went island hopping under motor yesterday. Visited two islands I’d not been to yet, and found a terrapin nesting site and collected some fishing trash.
