I'm not saying something that people don't already know. But it's worth making the issue explicit. We have an elaborate jurisprudence of probable cause, rooted in explicit strictures in the constitution that places big limits on what police can do to you. Those limits may be honored in the breach...

This is a wild hack. a16z gave a million dollars to startup called Doublespeed. They use a phone farm to flood social media with AI generated influencers and ads. A hacker remotely broke into the phone farm, unmasking the AI influencers/fake accounts, gave us the data www.404media.co/hack-reveals...

I got the bow pulpit and the platform off today. I’ll get the sprit itself off tomorrow.
I think I have a good way to lower it solo easily.
If all that goes smoothly, I will try to get the caprails (where the hull to deck joint is) sanded and ready for fiberglass on Thursday.

I suppose in retrospect all the rage filled revenge movies he’s done might’ve been seen as a sign of a more fundamental instability.
SCOOP: Academy Award-nominee Liam Neeson narrated a recent anti-vaccine documentary that glorifies RFK Jr.’s rise to power.

In the film, Neeson—a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador—calls the COVID-19 vaccines “dangerous experiments.”

Black walnut and ash cabin floor. This is raw unstained, wood sanded, but unfinished. Wiping with acetone shows how it may look finished.

“blocks from the White House”
It’s been a while since I’ve seen that phrase used crime posts. Can’t say I missed it.
Two members of the National Guard were left in critical condition after a man shot them blocks from the White House on Wednesday afternoon.

Here's what we know.

Last major incident that I can recall in that area was way back in the day when bravo bravo was a nightclub around there.
worth noting that there have been no reported violent assaults w/a gun near 17th & I since 2018, and no homicides from 2008 on (the publicly available data only go back to 1/1/2008). This is not a dangerous area–there was no reason for them to be there. (data from crimecards.dc.gov/homicides:cr...)
one thing we *can* conclude at this point — those two national guards would not have been shot if trump had not abused his power to deploy them to DC

I’m having that thing where you log on to social and everyone is reacting to the new thing but the reactions are vague, aghast, angry enough that you’re struggling to figure out exactly what the new thing is. German must have a word for this.

A reminder - last March, republicans promised to restore $1.1B in funding to DC in exchange for funding the government, and Mike Johnson never took it up in the House.

My family will be fine. We’ve already sacrificed and moved on. We just hoped that we had representatives that cared about the principle of fairness and were not playing us for suckers.

Per Axios, “at least 10 Senate Dems will back a vote to advance a funding package through January”. In exchange, the Senate will “hold a December vote on extending ACA tax credits for one year” (it needs 60 votes to pass).
21 min ago: Senate Democrats entered a caucus meeting, with many moderates remaining tight-lipped about their posture on the possible vote on advancing the House-passed continuing resolution later this evening. Republicans need five more Democrats to cross the aisle to move forward.

Please hold the line on ACA funding.
In fact, be bolder.
Don’t cave and tell your peers not to as well, please.

So I just spent the last two days in DC after spending almost the last two years on the eastern shore of Virginia. My impressions being back in DC – wow, this is city ever empty. I don’t think I’ve ever seen DC this empty. I can only imagine what DC’s tax receipts look like.
