Many of the most insidious evangelical stances are younger than my parents. I had no idea until I finally got out of there and realized that many Methodists, Mennonites, others have been quietly doing actual good work for generations
even setting aside Pentecostalism in particular and the outgrowths of the Millerites and the holiness movements (particularly American movements!) things such as Christian Zionism, dispensationalism, or a particular evangelical focus on abortion are pretty recent
