It’s a travesty that they have to protect their citizens from brutal thugs sent by the mafia operation that now passes for a federal government. But that is where we find ourselves.

EVERY LEGITIMATE MEDIA STORY SHOULD POINT THIS OUT. Protecting ICE thugs? Not their job. Protecting Illinois is.

Their job is not to protect ICE “officers” (really thugs whose actions are way more illegal than anything 99% of their victims have done). The people who the IL Gov & Chicago mayor have sworn to protect ARE THE RESIDENTS OF CHICAGO AND ILLINOIS.

We could have nipped this all in the bud. We know Republicans have put party over country at every turn (with the very few exceptions, now purged). What Dems have to look at is how they keep making the same mistake. Bernie’s policies and approach are what people broadly want and respond to. Do that.

We have to overturn citizens united, get rid of the electoral college and gerrymandering, institute ranked choice voting at the least in primaries. If the Dems had had a ranked choice process in 2016 unmarred by “it’s my turn” dominance, there’d have been enough buy-in regardless of the outcome.

It’s convincing and almost stunningly obvious. Dems don’t stay home because the candidates are “too woke”. They stay home because the influence of big money donors breaks their trust. They can smell hypocrisy. Give them trustworthy, truthful leaders who aren’t corporately funded and they’ll vote.

You don’t have to understand or approve of what other consenting adults do or believe. You just have to agree on basic freedoms and civil rights for everyone, and stop letting the 1% pit you against each other. When people hear that message from someone who’s not themselves beholden to major donors,

Economic justice and social justice go together. When poor whites who were the most easily manipulated by Agent Orange actually hear Bernie for themselves, they get it. Stop fighting each other and join together to take back democracy from the top one percent, and live and let live.

I don’t think straight white people have standing to ask POC and Queer folks to go back
to waiting at the back of the bus so we don’t scare the moderates so much. I see the role of backlash in all this, but the solution isn’t becoming republicans lite, it’s becoming Bernie Sanders….
