The Pelican Nebula(IC5070 and IC5067) is an emission nebula resembling a pelican. This SHO multi-spectral narrow band image shows the dominate areas of ionized Sulfur(reds), Hydrogen(yellows) and Oxygen (blues) within the region. Photo taken a few hours before dawn.

The Pelican Nebula(IC5070 and IC5067) is an emission nebula resembling a pelican. It is an active region of star formation 1800 ly distant in the constellation Cygnus. Tonight I made an optical observation of the Beehive Cluster (M44) in the constellation of Cancer and Mars as they approach their visual closeness on Thursday. This is how they looked to my eye through my telescope lens! #astronomy #astrophotography @stormhour.bsky.social @photohour.bsky.social
The Beehive Cluster (also known as Praesepe (Latin for "manger", "cot" or "crib"), M44, NGC 2632, or Cr 189), is an open cluster in the constellation Cancer. One of the nearest open clusters to Earth, it contains a larger population of stars than other nearby bright open clusters holding around 1,000 stars. Under dark skies, the Beehive Cluster looks like a small nebulous object to the naked eye. The distance between Mars and Earth varies greatly due to their elliptical orbits around the Sun. At its closest, Mars is about 55 million kilometers (34.2 million miles) from Earth, and at its furthest, it can be over 400 million kilometers (249 million miles) away. The average distance is approximately 140 million miles (225 million km). The current visual distance between Mars and M44. Getting closer each day and on Thursday 1st May at their closest, Mars will sit just under the Beehive!
