I am really happy that we can start jointly tackling the interoperability challenges in the Netherlands and proud that our funding @opensciencenl.bsky.social could have helped with this 😀

I'm very pleased to announce that @cwts.nl and Dialogic will develop an Open Science monitoring framework and prototype dashboard for the Netherlands in the coming 2 years.

@opensciencenl.bsky.social has selected the consortium through a European tender (outlined OSNL 2024–2025 work programme).

Thanks for writing this. Open data helps me see if I should trust or care about a particular study. If full data are crap and the paper shows amazing things, if not enough data was collected. Without data papers are nothing but illustrated essays. I see great value in having access to it.

Lots of interesting observations & ideas in this piece. “If we can stop rewarding people for output and instead reward people for good process, as judged by their own arguments that process fulfills the sound scientific principles, then we can maybe evolve towards a better state.”

What a beautifully refreshing message and reminder for the current times

And a conclusion by Curtis Sharma @4turesearchdata.bsky.social "Yes, more reflection slows down the scientific process, but is that really a bad thing? We need to rethink what we mean by scientific progress."

"Across the AI movement we see the same belief — more measurements mean more data, which lets us do things more efficiently and effectively (…) But if your goal is to understand, explain, and interpret a phenomenon in relation to scientific theory, it’s not acceptable." @informusiccs.bsky.social

746 proposals for a total of 3M (about 13 will be funded).

If orgs spent 4000 in personnel time preparing their proposals on average, then this mechanism actually reduced funding for open science.

Open science is extremely underfunded.
