I am a factory worker. I am autistic. I am a bibliophile. I am a writer of poetry (sometimes).

MY FAVORITE AUTISTIC CODED LITERARY CHARACTERS.
I felt a profound connection with these novels years before my autism diagnosis, all but one, We Have Always Lived In The Castle, I just read in recent months, and might be my favorite.

Since taking office, the Trump admin has unleashed a campaign of terror in our neighborhoods. This violence is the predictable result of an out-of-control agency acting with impunity.

As Congress negotiates the gov't spending bill, they're considering more funding for ICE & CBP. What's at stake⤵️

MELANCHOLIC and MACABRE MOVIES THAT STIR MY AUTISTIC SOUL. Ideally, you want sparsely used music; negative space is essential; long, static shots of vegetation, landscapes, houses, structures, inanimate objects; stilted, sometimes cryptic dialogue; ASMR triggers are a must. #AutisticCoded #Movies

Today I went and saw Before Sunrise and Before Sunset back to back on the big screen. I cried throughout both. The scene that melts me every time is in Sunset when Celine talks about how she can never truly get over someone she loves. She perfectly describes my own experience with love and loss.

The autumnal equinox is happening today at 2:19 EDT! The beginning of the most melancholic and macabre season. The season that lives within my very soul. #AutumnalEquinox

This is the oldest bookmark I own. It’s over 30 years old, and in pristine condition. It’s so lovely. And from a bookstore I miss dearly, Manteo Booksellers in Manteo, NC. #bookmark #books #booksellers #sentimental #manteo

Zohran Mamdani’s mother is Mira Nair?! One of the great filmmakers, and terribly under-appreciated. She made one of my top ten favorite films of all time, Salaam Bombay. #mamdani #miranair #salaambombay #greatfilms

When you’re coming up
a brain can grow porous
from neglect and noise and unrest,
and though marred by forgetfulness
I found healing in the books I read,
hope in the promise of another chapter,
and solace in the quiet rooms that held them.

1000% this. Public libraries are actually pretty radical--free to all, and based on the idea that info should be available to all. Get a library card! Use your library! Those numbers often play into their funding.
I also keep thinking that we have to support our libraries.

Ok #booksky, let’s talk.

👎🏼Goodreads, owned by Amazon, fuels its monopoly on books.

👍🏼StoryGraph, a Black woman-owned platform, offers an ethical, ad-free alternative with mood-based recommendations, user control over data, and a focus on inclusivity. Support diversity over corporate power!

the realest lyric ever sung is in "Easy" when Lionel Richie says "I'm not happy when I try to fake it" and if it hits you on the right day it does about ten years of therapy's work in 1.5 bars of mid tempo 70s rock
