Depends on who ‘our’ is: if you’re an asset owner, you’re laughing; if you pay on work earnings m, you’ll pay proportionally more. Many swallowed the low-tax, small state for decades and now crying about 💩 in rivers, NHS queues, struggling schools , no social care, etc. The bill always arrives.

Closing our eyes; blaming the poor; talking about meritocracy; privatising public assets; deregulating environmental protection… we can keep doing this until all public services collapse. Our tolerance for degraded infrastructure is high go as long as it saves a few quid on tax.
