'Success' in the eyes of modern society does not always lead to happiness and contentment. In fact, happiness and contentment are the quintessence of success.
Play by your own rules.
Can't see what their problem is. I mean, who DOESN'T like spending time with bitter old racists?

I'd certainly like to think so. You have obviously taken into account the 'pollsters biases'. I wonder why you think I wouldn't have done the same. It might be the same reason you feel the need to reiterate the subtext of your question.

Trump manages to look 8 years old and 108 years old at the same time, in that pic. It's like he's become both characters from the film 'Big'. In one image.

I know this is probably a really superficial point, but why are they so often such f*cking dweebs? Are they desperately reaching for some kind of weird notion of masculinity? Were they 'kicked' as kids and they're desperately looking for opportunities to 'kick' back?
I despair!

Gawd bless 'em!

And let's not forget that unconscious bias - or conscious bias for that matter - can allow us to accept or dismiss such data, depending on whether or not it supports our existing opinions.
The polls are out there. You can judge them for yourself.

Nor I, but public opinion matters, too. After a long period of 'decline', this will be a lengthy, drawn-out process. Or dispute, if you prefer. I would argue that if the planned strike was to go ahead, it'll prove highly counterproductive to the BMA. That's certainly what recent polling suggests.
December 13, 2025 at 6:10 PM
Thanks for the response. That's where I'm at too, but obviously I value your opinion having been in that world.
There are plenty of reasons why I'm disappointed in this government right now, but a lot of the lay criticism on this issue strikes me as 'I just don't like Streeting' stuff.

So, a 29% pay rise over 3 years is 'meaningful', even if it needs to be part of an ongoing process. The new offer to cover exam fees is 'meaningful'. The expansion of training places and prioritising of UK docs over overseas docs is 'meaningful'. It might not be enough. But it is 'meaningful'.
December 13, 2025 at 5:45 PM
This is obviously more your field than mine, or at least it used to be. If you don't mind me asking, what's your gut telling you about the latest planned strikes?
December 13, 2025 at 5:28 PM
Well, no, not really. Streeting is clearly accusing Sunak of refusing to negotiate in the post you have cited. But Streeting is continuing to negotiate, in an attempt to avoid the strike. Hence the new offer. I'm no Streeting or Labour apologist, but your argument seems a little disingenuous.

The problem is, they're both examples of incredibly diverse groups of people, all rubbing along pretty damn well together. That scares the sh*t out of people like Trump.

And there's an increasing number of Americans moving into London. It's almost like they are constantly making up total nonsense.

Does this now become another war he has stopped?
