Trans rights are civil rights. If you aren't willing to die on the hill of trans rights, then you aren't willing to die on the hill of Black rights. Of Jewish rights. Of disabled rights. Of gay rights. Of anyone's rights. Human rights.

I hate to say it but the majority of the country is not going to die on the hill of trans rights. We can’t protect ANY groups if we can’t win a national election, so purity tests only serve to make specific groups feel triumphant. That’s not “erasing” them; it’s long-horizon strategy.

I would have thought it was fairly obvious that someone with actual experience and understanding of the law around gender reassignment and sex would know more than five judges who failed to make any reasonable efforts to try to do the same.

Some students have filled the fountain on the campus with washing up liquid so it is full of suds. 😂

It's probably unprofessional just how much I am enjoying it.
matheleine.bsky.social
I think the Express must have missed that memo more broadly 😂

It's a bile-filled rag!
matheleine.bsky.social
Snap- had exactly the same thoughts!

The article even used ‘cis’!
matheleine.bsky.social
Refreshing to see a media article using the correct term “cis” and featuring extensive criticism of the hate groups.

Can we stop using calling groups like Sex Matters and LGB Alliance,"Gender Critical Activists" as if their views are in any way "legitimate"? When they make comments like these then I can't see how you can call them anything other than transphobic hate groups.

Gender critical activists accused of ‘hateful’ remarks about trans women
Labour MP Richard Quigley said he was ‘appalled by the comments, but not surprised’

A transphobic pressure group is trying to ban trans women from Hampstead women’s pond – it's time to fight back.

Keep Hampstead women’s pond inclusive - add your name 👇

I think this is likely to be one of the first big tests of how far down the bigotry rabbit hole this country has gone. Everything we can do to fight back helps - please sign!

I mean, by this stage, it's evidence on top of evidence that the Supreme Court got it completely wrong, but we have to continue with the farce.
Let’s talk about the Draft Gender Recognition Bill and the report by the Joint Committee on Human Rights. They were concerned that a court might fail to interpret the bill correctly because it talked about a change of gender, not sex (report below).

In Discworld, cities thrive because they welcome dwarfs, trolls, vampires, and humans alike. Ankh-Morpork works because everyone belongs. Funny how fiction can seem more humane than policy sometimes.

I joined the Greens in June. Conference last weekend felt like a kind of homecoming. I’ve been adrift these last few years, mourning Alice, despairing at a ruling class that seems intents on heaping misery on all minorities. In the depths of grief hope wasn’t enough, but now it breaths life into me.

I said that @greenparty.org.uk membership is rising by 1000 new people a day.

I was wrong.

Yesterday we welcomed 2000 new people.

We now have 88,000 members! 🎉

Gosh, I initially thought these were all new stories today and had a minor panic.
matheleine.bsky.social
They lie and lie and lie.
matheleine.bsky.social
It’s just a flat out lie. The BBC have to challenge a lie on air.

3 MAGA extremists have re-intro'd a bill that allows South Carolina to execute women who receive an abortion. If you haven't heard about S 323, it's because corporate media has completely ignored it.

Here's the overview, the sponsors, & how to fight back:

Of course, it is particularly awful for the kids deliberately not eating or drinking so they don’t have to put themselves in danger at school.
matheleine.bsky.social
Aye, I think you are probably right with that.

It’s fairly scary, as I don’t see trans people being politically ‘safe’ for a long time.
matheleine.bsky.social
Thank you for confirming that!

Very odd policy-writing then. Trying to mislead people.

(Aware I am probably just wrong.)
