Principled conservative jurists ARE concerned.

The 6-3 majority thinks they can put their thumbs on electoral scales to stop Dems from getting a turn again, and if worst comes to worst, just change the rule again.

I’m hoping someone like @kenwhite.bsky.social can explain why conservative jurists are unconcerned about Dems availing themselves of all this unitary executive power when it’s their turn.

My guess is that safeguarding rights takes constructive action, and firing ppl is a destructive power.

Just imagine the kind of shitty person who wants to take these down. A sign about not crushing the natural plants? About how the place has been special to people for centuries?

Small, cruel people who want to make everyone live in their small, cruel world.

These two signs have been removed from Acadia National Park (Passamaquoddy and Penobscot territory).

I am not okay.

The low-growing plants and shrubs on Acadia's mountains
are adapted to tough conditions of wind, fog, ice, snow, and direct sunlight. They are also fragile, and just a few footsteps can damage roots and expose soil to erosion.
More frequent storms, intense rain, and hotter temperatures make it harder for plants to grow back.

There’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for people to build on the rubble of what’s being destroyed before our eyes. Private corporations bending over to forcefeed everyone government-approved speech is evil and amoral, but more than anything this creates boring, inauthentic, unwatchable shit.

Huh, weird, it’s almost like the free speech crisis that we’re in now has nothing to do with voices on the left being too woke.

Update: It's not just Nexstar

“Jimmy Kimmel Live will be preempted indefinitely” - per an ABC spokesperson
tvmojoe.bsky.social
This is...something

Nexstar, one of largest owners of TV stations in the country, is pre-empting JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE "for the foreseeable future":

"Nexstar strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming."

it is really important for news outlets to be clear (unlike the nyt here) that Kimmel was suspended not because of some grassroots backlash but because ABC caved to threats from the head of the FCC

It truly cannot be restated enough that earlier this year Trump pardoned everyone involved with J6, the largest event of political violence in the US in my lifetime. They have absolutely no credibility here and deserve to be confronted with this fact whenever they're in public.
bencollins.bsky.social
Political violence is evil, killing people is evil, a country with more guns in it than people is broken, and what the government is saying about political violence right now being a primarily leftwing phenomenon is factually, statistically untrue. They are using this moment to rewrite history.

It absolutely matters here that Pritzker was effective at sounding the alarm and plainly stating this would be unconstitutional in a profoundly radical and fundamental way, and showing he could rally practical popular opposition, which then gets spun as backing out over "legal headaches."

@alaynatreene
Trump shelved his plans to target Chicago as the next city for his domestic crime push after advisers warned him that sending in troops to help with local law enforcement (without buy-in from the state’s governor) could create legal headaches they want to avoid, sources familiar with the matter told CNN

Now he’s going to Memphis
