@seatsixtyone.bsky.social The connection corridor / shortcut at Brussels is open, two long moving walkways down, out into a corridor and up again to the ICE. No annoying and narrow trip to the escalator/steps.

Eurostar from St Pancras just after New Year, Saturday morning, connection for the ski train at Lille (we're on till Brussels). Check-in & boarding predictably awful, but I have to applaud them keeping some seats free for bags (which in our area weren't needed).

Watch Ronnie Barker's speech at 24m52s and tell me I'm not crazy for being reminded of a recent UK prime minister?

Happy Christmas!

And so this year's only trip to Ireland begins... we're taking it easy this year and stopping for the night in Brussels. In theory we'll be there in just under 7 hours.

Someone's staying in our apartment for part of the time we're away and I need to be careful I don't overdo it with the instructions.

In her latest BiEAPG blog, @jomarovic.bsky.social takes on the EU’s approach to the Western Balkans:

"For 30 years, the EU has promised the Western Balkans a European future — while quietly backtracking, shifting excuses, and delivering too little, too late."

Another day, another train test, except this time I have to pay 🥳
It's time to finally try out "the competition" and with the Sbahn being so messed up any train starting or ending at Ostbahnhof is welcome. We're off to the Spielwiesn in Augsburg 🤩

I'm heading for an ICE-L testrun today! Disclaimer: anything I post will be positive, we've been told to not report teething problems etc. on social media. But I'm hopeful it's all gonna be great 🚄🚄🚄

This seems like quite a big deal to me, but the topic is complicated and the TS analysis behind a paywall, so it's not being widely reported? In any case Bahnblogstelle seems to have a good summary of the TS article:

I was told early this morning at short notice I need to go and see Frozen the musical in Stuttgart. I'm staying positive. And if it's hard going, I'm assuming there's a drinks break in the middle 🥂
