One of the things that I've noticed about the Knives Out franchise is each film can fit in with the Agatha Christie mold:

Knives Out is the "Will-Reading/Murder in the Manor" mystery

Glass Onion is the "Exotic Local" mystery

Wake up Dead Man is the "Murder in a Small Town" mystery

I find it often lately that general discourse on a certain topic is stuck down the middle between "there is always hope" and "there is no hope left"

Well. That was something.

Yesterday I managed to write a single sentence for my book

Not bad I must say

One thing i'm finding as I write is that I keep trying to think of how useful each chapter will be to the overall story. Like, should I keep in this chapter even if very little excitement happens, that sort of thing

Does anyone else sketch doodles of their characters as they write or is it just me?

Authors, if you see this, it's a sign to post the first line of your book

The first thing I realized was the fact that everything was dark and that I had a horrible headache.
Authors, if you see this, it's a sign to post the first line of your book.

"Listen, it's not the worst idea I've ever had, and it's sure as hell not going to be the last," Stephanie Dyer said moments before her untimely death.
Authors, if you see this, it's a sign to post the first line of your book.

"*And here I thought I'd had the end of this story already,* he thought as he lay in the blood-red light of yet another unexpected sunset, dying." (*Tales of the Five #3: The Librarian*)

One problem i'm having with my first full attempt at writing fantasy is how much detail I should use for this world. I have a tendency to get bogged down in giving detailed descriptions but I also don't want it to be too cookie cutter

My style of writing is rather then write in chronological order, I write the most important events first and then write in the events bridging each to the other.

Any other authors tried this style?

So I've started a new novel.

I had come to the conclusion while editing my previous one that I just wasn't enjoying it, it felt too much "work" and less like I was writing it to write it and more that I was writing it cause I "had to" (and not in a good way)

This new book has been more fun

Does any other authors get anxiety about the amount of words they type for any given chapter?

Me: Currently working on my second novel and it feels like it's much more solid then my first one in terms of dialogue and descriptions.

Also me: I feel like everything I write is trash and why am I even bothering with this book

One of the things I noticed with the recent political talk is a reaction of "time to give up" and "we should just roll over and die...nothing is going to save us".

I honestly would rather not give up.

As an author I tend to have issues staying focused on one project, so I rotated between several books/projects i'm writing. Does anyone have any advice for keeping your focus on just one writing project or is what I'm doing just fine? I always tend to question that.

As an Author I tend to speak my character's dialogue out loud while I'm writing to test if it actually will sound like something someone would actually say....am I the only one who does this?

Still editing my second book after *checks calendar* about four years now I think.....is this normal for other writers or is it just me?

Watching Kadaicha and it's....it's a movie that sets out to be a horror film and succeeds in that. It's not particularly good, it's not particularly smart or particularly scary but it IS a horror film.

Watching the horror film El Espejo de La Bruja from the Mexico Macabre box set and so far it's probably the best of the bunch. Compared to La Maldicion de La llorona, it manages to take two vastly different horror tropes and make them work well together.
