Not sure how many times I can, or need, to say it, but:

The Roberts Supreme Court is completely illegitimate, and crazily off the rails.
The right, along the Roberts Court, is trying to nullify the Reconstruction amendments guaranteeing equality under the law, in order to restore the Antebellum Constitution, which envisions “liberty” as an eternal aristocracy of race and class (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

Oh man, Missouri is about to run its own Brownback experiment.

Trust me, neighbors, you DO NOT WANT THAT.
Missouri is already projected to lose $500 million this year by cutting the capital gains tax. We are set to another lose 2/3rds of our state revenue by cutting the income tax.

I honestly don’t know what will become of the state, but I think it’s going to be very bad.

Republicans can’t govern.

Russia wants to use Kessler Syndrome (where Earth orbits get so clogged with debris, satellites & space programs essentially can't function) as a weapon??

That seems dumb, even for them.

Intelligence agencies suspect Russia is developing anti-satellite weapon to target Starlink service
Starlink's services are used by Ukraine. Russia views the constellation as a threat. The intelligence findings say the destructive pellets could be small enough to evade detection.

In case you need to hear it from someone who was raised Hindu: Usha is not a hostage, she is an accomplice. She is culpable. Fuck her and the fascists she colludes with. May she go down with all of them. As Zohran ably demonstrates, our communities do not aspire to whiteness & don’t seek to appease.
Vance's latest rant has set off another misguided round of "free Usha" rhetoric. This isn't just inaccurate--she's wholly a part of this fascist project--it's dangerous. We can no longer afford to imagine fascism as smaller than it is. Hindu fascism is vast, too. No religion is immune.

In response to mainlining & demonstrative racism of the GOP lately, I told my politics group chat today that I never expected to miss Nancy Pelosi kneeling with a kente cloth and yet here we are.

I got some 😂 in response.

I am trying to imagine how Kansas City would react to something like this.

Given that the KCATA promptly trashed the bus benches @sunrisemvmt.bsky.social placed around the city, my guess is: probably not as well as Christchurch did.

Reminder, Kansas: we need to vote down the constitutional amendment in August that would change the Supreme Court to being elected.

The merit selection system works really well, there is zero need to change it.
The Kansas chief justice is going to retire in early 2026.

That'll give the Democratic governor an appointment—but major caveat that the 'merit system' significantly constrains the governor's choice in this state (for now), so don't expect a major upheaval.

The most consequential Supreme Court decision of the year is clearly Louisiana v. Callais.

And knowing this hugely racist, totally illegitimate Roberts Court is likely to take a buzzsaw to the Voting Rights Act makes me sick.

It will devastate democracy.
