A Trump loyalist, John Sarcone, was appointed on an interim basis. His tenure expired & a judge found other efforts to install him unlawful. The judges are by statute allowed to appoint a US attorney if there’s a vacancy like this. So they did. Now that guy has been fired.

"It is the end of liberty if the executive can paralyze Congress by threatening it with prosecution." NR's @andrewcmccarthy.bsky.social finds "impeachable" Trump's "tin-pot dictator-style" move to prosecute the 6 Democrats, and even more his drawing of the armed forces into his abuses of power.

It is important to remember that the evisceration and degradation of the Department of Justice described today in NYT was enabled by prominent lawyers, Ds and Rs, who assured the country of their firsthand knowledge of Pam Bondi’s fitness to lead DOJ.

This affidavit was much weaker than I suspected. No allegations of intent. No allegations of election theft. No allegations of foreign interference. No allegations that the statute of limitations doesn't apply.

At worst, it alleges human error, during a pandemic, that didn't affect the outcome.

In Fulton County, there had been a mystery as to what the evidence that the magistrate used to find probable cause would it look like. Now there’s a new mystery: how in the world did the magistrate approve this bunch of recycled and discredited allegations to find probable cause?
