still not over that news clip of Yvette Cooper blithely saying she has the flags ‘everywhere’ at home, on her shed, her placemats, on her lingerie she uses to turn on Ed Balls. I made up the last bit but she was lying through her teeth anyway, helping to prop up fascistic hate and giving not 1 fuck

You seriously might as well put a burning cross in your garden. You absolutely are NOT helping.

The English flag is like a KKK hood to me. You can't ever convince me it's positive. I feel anxious and my fight or flight response kicks in seeing them. So if you're an "ally" using them, you're not doing it for us, you're doing it for yourself - because it harms us.

the only PMs to have studied history, arguably the best subject to prepare for a job like that, are Stanley Baldwin, Clement Attlee, Alec Douglas-Home, and Gordon Brown. Much to contemplate there

dismantling the neo-liberal public realm feels good. Next we need to do bins and signage poles, things that weren’t ever privatised but have still become shit

In Manchester and appreciated how something so simple - making all buses yellow - can really improve public space. Feels neater

Under the tories at least the highest levels of government happily called them ‘hate marches’

Also the western civilisation bit is straight from far right Israeli political language, right?

This article manages to name her husband before it names… her.
Article reads:
Woman named as Archbishop of Canterbury in historic first

The 63-year-old archbishop-designate is married to Eamonn Mullally, with whom she has two children. Originally from Woking in Surrey, she was the UK's chief nursing officer from 1999 to 2004.

Since my decision to stop posting to X/Twitter, and restarting here, the project has lost 2k+ followers.

It’s disheartening, but the project is 10yrs old this year, and I hope it’ll be around for 10 more.

To those who have stuck with us, and to those new to the project, thank you.

We can rebuild.

I really admire that you can edit on WhatsApp but it’s time limited. So, typos: yes. Changing what you said so it’s no longer offensive/libellous/will make you win a petty argument: no.

yes, klaxon is being sounded. It’s like they have new quotas for overruling listings that they’re not sharing

concerning that this government are increasingly going rogue on heritage rulings, presumably in service of their alleged growth agenda. Evidence-based policy used to be a New Labour canard but everything is disposable for economic expediency

NEWS: DCMS has rejected the historic BBC Brookmans Park Transmitting Station in Hertfordshire (1928) for listing, overruling the recommendation of Historic England and C20 to designate the site Grade II. The decision is the latest in a spate of controversial ministerial interventions in heritage.

time for all the economists who say rent control is a great evil to head to Scotland and narrate the housing apocalypse in real time, I guess
scottishgreens.org
🚨BREAKING

40 years ago Margaret Thatcher abolished rent controls in Scotland.

The Scottish Parliament just passed a Bill introduced by the Scottish Greens, which will allow them once more!

This will keep rents affordable and offer safety and stability to renters. 🙌
Rent controls passed! homes are for living in, not for profiteering.

slightly higher hanging fruit but still, a total loss of nerve

just by charging 20+ year old vehicles to drive around the city. How much more low hanging fruit is being ignored because of a fear of public pushback (actually just fossil fuel lobbyists flooding the internet with bullshit lies)?

Some good news.

London is meeting legal limits for toxic NO2 pollution for the first time – almost 200 years earlier than predicted – following the Mayor’s "world leading air pollution policies," City Hall announces.

The Ultra Low Emissions Zone - and similar policies - really do work.

very few of these 12 schemes are meaningfully New Towns. No bad thing, and densifying places like central Leeds and Manchester is welcome. But the terminology is odd, at best. Do they think it helps bypass NIMBY opposition? www.gov.uk/government/n...

there’ll be a Newsagents special in 5 years when it’ll be revealed (by a journo who’s known for 4.5 years and said nothing) that Thiel has everyone’s genome. It will be described as ‘extraordinary’
