"If, if, if. The Orioles can’t let their entire season hinge on whether the core avoids major injuries and produces to its potential. . . . They need a proven hitter capable of carrying them for stretches and relieving the pressure on everyone else"
I love the idea of adding a veteran, reliable bat. Still, there are a few big questions with this lineup (and will be no matter how the offseason goes)
Orioles outfielder Heston Kjerstad is undergoing treatment for a medical condition, Mike Elias said, and he’s responding favorably to treatments and he’ll be in spring training. Elias declined to specify what the medical condition is
Adley Rutschman dealt with nagging back and hand injuries last year, a source said. He had oblique injuries this year. Once healthy, the Orioles bank on Rutschman being a central figure again.
Tony Mansolino said he has been told he’s under consideration for the full-time managerial post in Baltimore but he understands he may be wearing a different uniform next year. No guarantee
There's nothing to say after a season like this that will make anyone feel better, but sure, this sounds good. And not just everybody *in* the clubhouse, either. I'd be pretty shocked by any significant changes, though
Jordan Westburg: "I think there needs to be a reflection from everybody in this clubhouse, on a big scale and on a small scale. What did every individual do or did not do to add to this or to make us where we are? And then, kind of what can we do to change things?"
