A very rare Alberta Clipper in early September. Normally, this happens midwinter and is all snow. It's all rain at this time of year. Interesting radar presentation.

In the world of weird: Chewy has commercials featuring doggos Homer, Radar, and Dash. We had Homer, who passed in 2015, then adopted Radar in 2019. This year, we adopted Dash. Homer and Dash were not named by us. Sometimes, the neighbor's labradoodle comes to play with the boys. Her name is Chewy.

When Jami says she knows a lot about radar, she's being humble. She literally trained all the NWS meteorologists on it when the WSR-88D doppler radars were fielded in the 90s.
I happen to know a lot about weather radar. They are spectacularly complex, designed for only one purpose: detecting and locating rain, snow, hail, etc. Transmission is in milliseconds and at a wavelength like your microwave oven.

The "Alt NOAA" account is currently spreading misinformation about weather alerts and claiming that cell phone alerts don't exist and you have to have a weather radio. Cell phone alerts absolutely do exist, check your settings to make sure you didn't turn them off.

They’re planning on building a detention center for migrants in the middle of the fetid swamps of Florida.
If you think this is something new, the first internment camp they sent me and my family to in 1942 was a barbed wire prison called Rohwer. It was located in the swamps of Arkansas.
