I've been spinning my wheels for years with heavy music, trying to get a band going, written several records at this point that are just languishing incomplete on harddrives.
I think next year I'm going to focus more on my electronic / dance / pop production and see if I get more traction.

Every dollar spent on a campaign would be better spent giving food, clothing, housing, and hygiene products to poor people. That's just a fact.
A thing I’m not so sure about is the comparison of aggregate campaign spending to the need that mutual aide tries to fill. There’s an implicit argument there that campaign spending would be better off wholesale redirected to mutual aid and I really don’t know about that.

What Kat Abu is doing is NOT mutual aid. It's not radical. It's just a democratic campaign signalling their priorities in a novel way. The problem that people like @whstancil.bsky.social have with it isn't the fact that's it's not real mutual aid, it's the signalling that u want to help poor people.

authors and musicians who are anti-piracy need to check themselves. Piracy is good, archiving is good. People who pirate music are often your biggest financial supporters. Stop shitting on them.
