📝 Like Wordle but wish it involved plagues?

It's not quite the same -- there's no spelling just a series of clues in a similar feedback loop as Wordle -- but it's pretty cool! Complements of an anonymous med student on Reddit.

‘Standing on the shoulders of imperfect humans’ continues w/ a review by @anniejoseph.bsky.social of the Kass criteria for significant bacteriuria named after EH Kass. Still widely used in the clinic but where did 10^5 CFU/mL come from & is it still relevant? www.cmi-comms.org/article/S295...

This retrospective cohort from 🇫🇷showed that oral switch is a suitable option for treating IE, even for POET-ineligible patients

➡️treatment failure HR=0.55 favoring oral, 95%CI 0.27-1.17
➡️more days alive outside 🏥 in oral group (59 vs 47, p=0.001)

This is a wild paper on the performance of warm/empathetic AI models in medical reasoning. This is the start of whatever we're calling a #Thread on Bluesky. A #Skeeterfall? A #SkeetShoot? A #Skeetitorial?

Our new study published. We were surprised to see that carriers have a high baseline risk that antibiotics don't add on it. Among non carriers BLBLI posed the highest risk. Overall the conclusion as always is- be judicious: use the shortest regimen and try to avoid unnecessary treatment

Asymptomatic carriers of C. diff infection (CDI) have a higher baseline risk for CDI, particularly to amoxicillin and clavulanate and piperacillin and tazobactam, increasing risk for noncarriers but not carriers. ja.ma/4fj4hK5

I was asking myself almost the same question when a febrile neutropenic patient grew salmonella in her blood. I switched to targeted therapy but evidence is lacking

An extremely heartbreaking, tragic story that made me understand the deep scars that women who were assaulted as childs carry with them into adulthood, it's been 7 years since I listened to this, I would not do it again but I think I would be different without it

Love this, my primary focus is ID and infection control but I also practice as an IM in a similar virtual hospital setting, and it's truly the future and does so well for our patients

Great ideas, we are looking into real time hand hygiene, and I am not sure what my opinion is on uv devices, will definently have to see more data.
And thanks for the starter pack!

These are amazing points, but I'm still trying to focus on the design part. We hopefully will also have the time for training but the first patient is due to be admitted in a few years from now so we're trying to see how to actually build the hospital
