A great journal article (available under open access) on what has always struck me as an understudied topic; the long half life of reserve currencies.

Let’s be real: This is a subsidy. The people who hate public spending have invented a massive government subsidy for a technology that has still yet to find a broad-based practical application 15 years after its debut
Crypto leaders press Trump to create federal bitcoin reserve

Americanists: how bad can it be really?
Comparativist: dictatorship, purges

For an easy experiment that frames socioeconomic status within cities: Search for Whole Foods vs Dollar Tree. It’s often a near mirror image.

I just made these of LA. I’m sure the equivalent is true outside the US.
Putting both alts in each image to have the comparison:

For this image:
A map highlighting multiple Whole Foods Market locations with red location markers in the Los Angeles area, showing clusters particularly around downtown and Pasadena.

For the second image:
A map displaying numerous Dollar Tree store locations with red location markers across the Los Angeles area, with a notable concentration along the 101 freeway and in the Pasadena region.

These descriptions provide a visual understanding of the distribution of these stores across the cityscape. For the first image:

Les temps sont durs, la santé est impactée et je ressens le besoin de me protéger de l'actu. Mais on va tenter de relancer une ligne Russie plus pertinente sur ce compte. Avec notamment un retour sur le terrain très bientôt! Mais, peut-être la fin de mon visa en Russie fin décembre...
