the kentucky derby is always a thrill but horse racing both fascinates and unsettles me overall :')

solid choice fjshd I never barrel raced but I knew a couple people who were big into it and it sounded like so much fun! I've always had relatives with horses but my horse belonged to the barn where I took lessons. some horse movie shit happened to me and he was mine for 10 years

it was my entire life for YEARS. if it was possible to make money with or even in spite of horses I'd still be doing it but life happens. I used to memorize facts about racehorses and I still watch the kentucky derby every year even though it mostly makes me nervous now

I wish you could have had one :') I was extraordinarily lucky to have a Connection with one I could not afford to officially own, and watching him take this other rider on random diagonals hit like nothing else

in the particular case I'm thinking about I could ride both our horses better than they could ride either but I didn't want their horse <3
