Bluesky hack, if you go to my profile and click on the video tab you can ignore all my bullshit and just look at Tortoise videos. There's nothing else there, it's turtles all the way down. 🙌🐢
If Nigel Farage wasn't Nigel Farage he'd probably already have been kicked out of Reform over his racist comments in order to detract from Nigel Farage's racist comments.

Perhaps the biggest unspoken truth of British politics is that: Helping people into work is expensive and difficult and as such is a responsibility the State has abnegated for a generation or more. Cutting benefits* does not achieve this, indeed it has the opposite effect on a statistical level.

Re NHS Mental Health Review: If you want to get people into work and to stay in work accurate diagnosis of mental health conditions is a net benefit, undiagnosed, unmedicated, unwell people will not reliably remain in employment and will be no less unwell for the lack of a diagnosis.

Streeting seemingly still has his head in the sand over the recruitment/retention crisis facing the NHS if the long term degradation of pay isn't addressed. Pay needs to return to at least 2010 levels at a minimum and that's not accounting for the decline in conditions resident doctors are facing.

Hard not to link Russia's belligerence as a partial consequence of decarbonisation. As the EU uses less oil and (possibly more significantly) gas Russia sales diminish, by provoking EU armament Russia drives up the prices of their remaining fossil fuel assets even if it's not the EU that's buying.

Whichever part of the law makes it so that the WI feels the need to exclude trans women needs to be rewritten. I don't think that's a controversial progressive position. Like, whatever edge case arguments about bathrooms or sports people might have excluding 1 in 200 people from everyday ... 1/2

There was one more - H I S T OR I C - B I G - B U D - That I missed in my first pass of Gigantic Land Tortoises (living and extince) of the Collection of the British Museum. (1877) by Albert Günther (Keeper of the Dept of Zoology)

Fascists are, as a general rule not competent, their 'superpower' is a refusal to follow rules and norms set out for the common good.

This is the silver lining, Fascism is a war with reality. Eventually their bullshit makes contact with the real world and the wheels fall off.
Actually just reading Project 2025, like just the PDF, and god damn this is poorly written. I thought the heritage foundation had been around long enough to at least write somewhat professionally and skillfully but this is some shit I'd be ashamed to have in my Youtube scripts

We talk about misinformation in the digital age like the mainstream press hasn't spent the last 50 years convincing people who have salaried income of £50,000pa that they have the same interests as the capitalist class with incomes of £100,000s
For context the 'Middle England' referred to here is the 0.5% of households living in homes worth more than £2 million

If you're ever at a protest where there's a risk of you getting arrested take a couple of paperback books, the police aren't obligated to let you read them in your cell but they often will on the basis that it'll keep you quiet.

Aside: sitting in a police cell for 20 hours is boring as fuck.

A bright spot for turtles: Olive ridleys are recovering in India, but still at risk
India's olive ridley turtle numbers appear to have rebounded after years of patchwork efforts to stem their decline. Can it last?
