It's quite healthy to realize that politicians can do things that are deeply annoying and obnoxious but nevertheless don't actually affect anything in the real world and Obama's releasing of playlists is probably top of the list for me.

Thank you Roland Barthes and Brian Dillon for ruining chopsticks

This idea might seem a little “out there”, but I think to foster a strong sense of community on bluesky as it grows we should all collectively adopt a baby and then vote on each decision about how to raise the baby

Invited my manager over for drinks while he's in town, obviously stressed about it, looked up some fun new recipes, bought 4 bottles of liquor and citrus. He was "sticking with water tonight, thanks!" so I am now in the market for friends who want to come try my cocktails.

The two funniest pieces I saw were a $125,000 single page from a Gutenberg Bible (but as the dealer assured me, one of the good pages!) and the absolute best piece of ephemera I've every encountered: Jack Kerouac's bank card and a welcome letter from the CEO. They're just like us!
Spent my time in "the real world" (wandering around a large room looking at rare books). Please enjoy my favorite find, a gorgeously bound inscribed 1st Edition of Baudelaire's Fleurs du Mal. Yours for a cool $187,000. They let me hold it!

Man, forgot what it was like to be on a frothy social media platform. Step away for 2 days and everything has changed! The hellrope sounded nice though

Oyster happy hour with friends! They're all laughing just out of frame.

Not sure if we're back to doing earnest skeets yet, but anyone in NYC going to the Antiquarian Book Fair this weekend? Love a hyperspecific meetup situation.

The history is actually amazing and instructive; it took 12 years and HAND pollinating A HUNDRED THOUSAND PLANTS in test tubes to get a noticeably sweeter grape that is still firm. Please remember this when you get mad at the 3 Bluesky devs for not building utopia overnight.

Folks, what a fun day we all had. The skeets are reaching peak deranged insanity just as Jake Tapper joins, and while I'm sure this won't last I will treasure up all these things in my heart and ponder them often. I'm off for the night, be excellent to everyone who doesn't post cringe.

BRB calling my HS crush's ex-husband's brother-in-law to ask have you ever considered retiring from posting early?
There’s been some confusion about Bluesky’s Invite system so let me help:

Every new person you invite becomes part of your “Downline.” You’re entitled to a portion of any Skeets and/or Reskeets they receive. As they invite new members, those new members also become part of your downline.

This place is a can of Coke that's been shaking for weeks. Adding dril was like dropping in Mentos. My theory is the first external event that catches on will explode the joint, just skeeting violently in every direction.

This is what Twitter should have felt like Monday during the Tucker defenestration. Just a barrage of posts, no quality control, utter mayhem until the dust settles and you've followed 50 more deranged accounts.

Incredible article, though I'm also a sucker for difficult celebrity stories. Would happily read 500 pages about Hunter S. Thompson trashing hotel rooms.

Is there a Book Bluesky yet? Currently reading Memoirs of Hecate County, which so far is like a twisted, surrealist John Cheever.

Determined to post more on this platform than previous iterations! Try shouting into the wild blue yonder rather than just staring into the void.
