From Superman The Man of Steel issue 15, a weird kinda jam where the usual team Gammill & Janke draw the "normal" stuff and they get Giff and Trevor Scott to do the hell scenes. Def worth a buck!

Escape From LA is hilarious because it's Carpenter being so mad that he has been told he can't smoke inside and spends a whole movie taking it out on Che Guevara and trans people

on the other hand, Jim Woodring's disgust is not only a fascinating insight into his tastes and outlook into his formative years, it's actually a refreshing antidote to the other saccharine tributes

Gary Groth's excoriation of Superman in his own magazine's issue marking 50 years of Supes. I'm sorry, this is the most adolescent shit.

When people talk about what makes comics singularly wonderful, all they need to do is point to this, such a beautiful slice of life with vibrant characters and a immersion into distance and time that only comics can do (or something)

The E For Extinction trade was so great it got me back into the comic shops buying monthly issues. There was a breif period where we thought the X franchise, and maybe marvel in general, was going to drop the gimmicks that defined the line in the 90s

Skipping ahead to my late teens, after a few years of not picking up a single comic. Was talking to @jfsculpts.bsky.social recently about how it's a book that defies the expectations of fans as much as first time readers. The general discourse still drops the ball too
