Who else is shocked! shocked! that the Justice Department withheld most of the Epstein files and over-redacted what it did release?

I sure wish the major news organizations went back to writing as if they had the space constraints that print publication demanded. We do not need 15 paragraphs of background in every story.

Good thing those Democrats in the Senate who voted to end the government shutdown believed the Republicans on fixing the ACA subsidies problem.

Under President Trump, electricity prices are surging — up 11%! — leaving millions behind on their utility bills, with past-due balances at an all-time high.

American families deserve better.

If Trump really did win in 2020 (nah), that would make his current term illegal as the 22nd amendment says nobody can be elected more than twice to the presidency. Food for thought.

I'm glad I continue to be outraged by the tactics of the Republiqans. Mike Johnson's refusal to convene the House of Representatives is just another nail in the coffin of our constitutional design.

Buried in a NYT story from the "stable genius" C-in-C: “Our ultimate strength does not come from equipment....It comes from you people, incredible people, good-looking people. Too many good-looking people. I don’t like good-looking people. I never liked good-looking people.”

From the NYT: "Since siding with Barack Obama twice, Iowa has become a stronghold for Mr. Trump. Yet perhaps no state has struggled more with his economic policies."

Gosh, if only somebody had warned those voters leading up to the 2024 election ...

Imperatives:

1. Reopen the government.
2. Swear in Adelita Grijalva.
3. Release the Epstein files.

Speaker Johnson comes in a close second as biggest horse's ass in DC.
Swearing in isn’t some ceremony. You aren’t a member of Congress until it happens. He knows that.

No phones, no staff, nothing.

I had to escort her into the Capitol on Wed bc Capitol police must treat her as a public visitor until she’s sworn in. And solo visitors aren’t allowed during shutdown!
Johnson: "Grijalva should be working for her constituents right now. I don't know what she's doing. I keep seeing their political stunt videos. She should be in her office. She should be working or in the district for her constituents" (Grijalva is not in fact a Rep. b/c Johnson refuses to seat her)
