As far as what to believe about yourself, you are the only authority on you. And I say that because I had docs gaslit tf out of me for the better part of 40 years. If something makes you uncomfortable, talk to other qualified, trusted peeps/providers. Explore it to figure out why it’s not jiving.

I finally got my autistic dx at 49 after giving birth to two very obviously autistic children. Reading the questionnaires I kept saying “but that’s normal. I did/do that”.

I’m not saying this is your experience too. But if bipolar treatment doesn’t help and you want to explore neurodivergence hmu❤️

I was dxed bipolar and bpd at 12. I was on mood stabilizers and antidepressants until I was 18. It didn’t help 🤷🏻‍♀️ What did stabilize my emotional lability was getting my sensory and neurological needs met. I got my ADHD dx at 17 although Ritalin didn’t really help (because of undxed hyper POTS).

I’m not contradicting your psychiatrist, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but autistic people, particularly those with both autism and adhd, and who are high masking/pass for neurotypical, are very frequently misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder.
