IIRC what got Microprose bought by Spectrum was these two cabs flaming out along with some other questionable game tech ventures. I played both as a kid and my memory was basically "credit feed for more playtime".

I remember thinking "oh that has to be part of the difference in the history" and then nearly screaming when I looked it up later.
