We could see an accelerated wave of GOP retirements if Aftyn Behn wins the special election in #TN07... some might even resign now to the point where Dems may take at least temporary control of the House.

Right when the filing deadline window opens in Mississippi (federal/state attorney offices) and North Carolina - which reminds me, contesting every race in those states is a must.

And we need to contest every race in Texas... one more week left to file and run for office.

It's deja vu all over again... can the Dems make it four in a row? We'll know on Tuesday, let alone push hard to make it happen.

It'd be a good time to call the voter protection hotline to bring this to their attention, and in Tennessee, that number is 1-833-336-8683 (1-833-DEM-VOTE), or you can text VOTE to 70888 (which is shared for many other states).

You can also call 1-866-OUR-VOTE (1-866-687-8683) as an alternative.

You'd think they would learn their lesson after the November 4th election losses, but no... they want to double down.

We may have to sue in court to enjoin the Department of Homeland Security from doing such actions if she tries, or call on Kristi Noem to resign or be fired from the position.

I'll add this - voter apathy as well as candidate recruitment were to blame for this in part, especially uncontested/underfunded seats that Dems left on the table.

I think that alone cost us some winnable races - not to mention that the national Dems jumped in too late in the 2024 cycle.

Oh, and it'd be a good time to do some phone banking between now and Tuesday... including this one below: bsky.app/profile/dcom...

We also need to remind people about the weather forecast for Tuesday... it's best to dress accordingly before heading out to the polls.

It's also important to check their E-Day polling places before they go, as it's possible those could be changed at the last minute.

And make sure it's a clean discharge petition - no amendments or anything added onto it. Sometimes the GOP likes to add stuff to deceive the public.

We also need to pressure our Senators in case the discharge petition is passed in the House, and goes to the Senate for consideration.

Speaking of, it'd be a good time to urge people to sign up for the virtual GOTV rally that's happening on December 1st on Zoom... not to mention there's also other canvassing and phone banking events happening all this weekend as well as Monday and Tuesday. bsky.app/profile/5050...
Final stretch in the Tennessee district 7 special election

And I expect that if she wins, we'll see more young people like her run for office, especially when most states as far as filing deadlines haven't closed yet.

This applies to all positions - Congress, statewide, judicial, state legislatures, various local races, etc.

Elections happen pretty much every single week - and that isn't changing. States and local counties run elections, and will always continue to be that way.
November 30, 2025 at 6:45 AM
Well, at least we've got Kathy Hochul who would appoint the replacement in the Senate... the House is a different story as there would be a special election and the seat being vacant for a few months.

Other states may not be so lucky especially if it's a Republican governor like New Hampshire.

That was thanks to the Virginia Dems recruiting all 100 State House candidates, and the rural candidates, especially the Virginia Value Pack 27, had enough money for a basic campaign thanks to fundraising efforts in the deep red districts. None of the 27 won but it was enough to move the needle.
November 29, 2025 at 11:52 PM
Same can be said for state legislative and local contests, especially if the Dem incumbent votes more often with the GOP, and that there are currently no term limits in that particular state.

Having as many primary contests as possible can also increase voter turnout and help things out statewide.
November 29, 2025 at 11:46 PM
It's going to come down to whether if the state and county Dems recruit candidates up and down the ballot, the precinct chairs are filled, and the funds needed for Democratic candidates to run a real campaign.

As for Vermont, you have to hope that Phil Scott retires for an easy flip to blue...

Or, doing it beforehand to avoid large crowds. This statement above may not be true or partially true for other countries, so there might be different responses depending on how well or how poor the particular country is doing.
