Analog horror is the cargo plane cult of horror genres.

Any instance within it thats good, is either an accident, something else mislabeled as analog horror cause it uses old music and still images, or local 58.
meowdelyn.bsky.social
Is it silly? No, not really. Though personally I like the name Q-drive precisely because it sounds like the sort of thing a dude in prosthetic ears and face-lift would talk about right before commercial break.

I enjoy a bit of whimsy though.

Local 58 was just good, the format was incidental to a great idea. Most analog horror is trying to ape the style while having nothing else to really say or do, and god damn does that show in 99% of them.
meowdelyn.bsky.social
Most analog horror, to me, just ends up feeling like someone's only exposure to horror media was 5 nights at Freddy's & that one time their uncles VCR malfunctioned and lost tracking while playing an old rerun of sesame street.

Unorthodox Kitten is good, if youre up for several hours/days and multiple explainer videos to understand what you've just watched, and even then only tentatively.

Enormous cosmic horror and near inscrutability makes it pretty dang good imo.

Other than that, I dunno im pretty dim on the genre.

Lovely wife got me the first 3 Frieren manga for my birthday, we have cider and donuts and currently have the dog sleeping against me as I read.

As bad as things are, right this moment, it could be worse.

This is exactly what we need. This is it.

"New York City Council member Chi Ossé, a close ally of Zohran Mamdani, is privately discussing a run against House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.)"
Scoop: Mamdani ally weighs challenging Hakeem Jeffries
Just talking about a potential campaign could drive a further wedge between Mamdani — the democratic socialist in line to be New York's next mayor — and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.)

What I actually struggle with is that we're well into the zone where our founding principles and natural law not only permit revolt but probably require it as our duty as citizens, and I am shirking every day.

What is "plenary authority" and why is it a big deal that Miller said that Trump has it over the national guard?
4 frame comic where Miller slowly blinks. Text reads. A few hours ago, speaking on cnn about Trump's plan to send the national guard into us cities, Miller said : under title 10 of the us code, the president has plenary authority, has... He then fully stopped talking and just blinked at the camera, as if he realized that he said the quiet part out loud. "Plenary authority" means "complete power over a particular area with no limitayions". It is equivalent to ruling by decree, which us how Mussolini, Stalin or Hitler governed. Having "plenary authority" over the military would mean that Trump can just use the national guard as he pleases, no matter what the courts say. It's a power grab.

New: Apple banned an app that simply archived videos of ICE abuses. Rather than other apps that record ICE official's real-time location, Eyes Up is to "preserve evidence until it can be used in court." Videos from TikTok etc. Every submission manually reviewed

Eyes Up's purpose is to "preserve evidence until it can be used in court." But it has been swept up in Apple's crackdown on ICE-spotting apps.

Your regular reminder that most people should leave their phone at home when you protest. Not in the car, not turn it off when you arrive. At home on the charger so it's pinging the tower as if you hadn't left the house.

They'll track you based on your phone being near phones of other protesters.

ICE has bought access to an “all-in-one” surveillance tool that gives it updated location data from hundreds of millions of phones, putting us all at risk of being tracked.

The government can’t be allowed to surveil us simply for having a cell phone.
ICE to Buy Tool that Tracks Locations of Hundreds of Millions of Phones Every Day
Documents show that ICE has gone back on its decision to not use location data remotely harvested from peoples' phones. The database is updated every day with billions of pieces of location data.
