sounding off about ‘AI art’

right, so the conversation should be about the institutionality of aesthetics, who in society reserves ‘aesthetic authority’. But the rise of techno-fascism is such a distinct and interesting context to have those debates

I feel a bit conflicted about it - on the one hand cautiously supportive for working artists to use AI tools, like any other technology - on the other hand there’s something so cynical about AI CEOs talking about ‘democratising artmaking’

Like the Nazis could point to the family, to folklore, opera, etc to support their political vision and world making, to the point that Dada could be a kind of radical subversion. I wonder what Elon Musk has to rest on… the US postmodern corpus I guess?

Prisons Must Fall by @prisonculture.bsky.social and Jane Ball
A hand holding an open picture book: constellation people (parent and child?) hold hands in the night sky above a prison building, watchtower, barbed wire fence. Text reads:
A locked and lonely cell is not where we belong. How can harming someone teach that causing harm is wrong?

I think you would need a record to set the key right? It doesn’t look like there would be space in the blob metadata itself

Simple S3/filesystem like approach sounds perfect tho

Blobs - AT Protocol
Media files referenced by records

Is that kind of what you were thinking @jakelazaroff.com ?
meri.garden
I forgot blobs exist lol ty @indexx.dev @zicklag.dev

I guess if you wanted to host a site of HTML blobs then, it might be good to have a record for each route that points to the blob. So that would just need to be updated each time you upload a new blob
meri.garden
would anything stop you posting an entire HTML file as an ATProto record on your PDS? Size limits?

Assuming some proxy/resolver service to expose it to the web

tldr on why this is confusing:

did:web stores the pds data (including handle) on the did document stored with the domain, but the domain can’t be changed

did:plc (what 99% of us use) stores the pds data + handle on the bsky-run plc directory, so handles can include domain names, but can be changed

We've been hard at work for the last month on a new @roomy.chat architecture that we hope will get us into production:

A Brief History of Roomy's Architectures

blog.muni.town/brief-histor...

I'm very excited about the new design and the performance that we're showing on our initial tests!
