I've heard of this one grapheneos.org but I believe its an android base. Everything is Apple or Google. Android is open source, but could likely be still just turned off if the US invades Greenland. If your looking to avoid paying them, its more a minimization option.
GrapheneOS: the private and secure mobile OS
GrapheneOS is a security and privacy focused mobile OS with Android app compatibility.

It's also incredibly telling that the messaging is that this is over.... "in the wake of"... "after the Grok controversy"...

Nothing's happened! How are we in the wake of it?

I think it's also worth people knowing that Elon Musk has no less than FIVE sets of proceedings lodged against Coimisiún na Meán since last year.

The einstellung effect has been known for generations: you have a very hard time noticing you're not actually solving the problem you actually have, but a different problem.

Generative AI is the einstellung effect reified.
There is a cool cognitive bias called the Einstellung effect. Basically: if you solve several problems the same way, the next problem you encounter you will try to solve the same way.

"when all you have is a hammer," basically.

I think @karlstanley.bsky.social was talking about this before on here, but there's a deep lack of technical understanding in our government, and it totally leaves them open to this kind of credulous "but they showed me *wonders*!" nonsense.
